Tooth belts

Unlike flat and V-belts, the positive-locking teeth of a timing belt prevent the otherwise unavoidable slippage. Glass or aramid fibers inside the belt transmit even high forces without noticeable stretching. The combination of both lead to handling large torques with precise angular accuracy even at low pre-tension.

A special case is the belt sold by the meter, listed at the top of the table. This belt is used statically in traction drives, such as the one found in the "Volksfräse".
