Tooth belts and -wheels

Toothed belt drives are rightly very popular: no other method allows for such simple, robust, precise, and efficient torque conversion and transmission. The design effort is far less than, for example, for spur gears, which require meticulous alignment with precise tolerances. For toothed belt drives, a tensioning point on one side is sufficient; only very long belts may require an additional tensioning pulley. And they are also inexpensive.
