Drag chains
Drag chains – also known as "energy chains" – ensure the orderly routing of moving cables and hoses. The flexible channels, composed of individual links, can be easily lengthened or shortened. However, a fastener link, appropriate to the size, is always needed at both ends.

Contrary to some assumptions, the cables do not need to be laboriously threaded through the link channel: the covers can be opened for insertion. This is somewhat easier with open cable carriers than with the closed version, which, however, offers perfect protection for the cables in dusty environments.
